My experience so far (as of 5/28/09) with Qwest. So because of work I need a landline, well the
cable company I was with only had voip (voice over internet phone) so I had to switch. I
couldn't find any info about a local phone company or I just wanted something that could bundle
everything in one swoop so I decided to go with them. I couldn't remember ever hearing anything bad about them. Wow if I knew then what I know now!
Saga starts on 5/12/09. I so should have listened to the warning niggle I got when I first
called and spoke to Josh. He was really really nice and helpful, up until trying to get my tv
hooked up. Turns out there was some problem with their site and he couldn't get it scheduled
that day. But he was so awesome (or so I thought) that I was like ok, technicalities happen. He
said he would call me back the next day.
Well he doesn't call again until like 5:15pm 5/13 to say he still couldn't get site to work so
he would have to call me back again the next day. Again not thinking to bad but starting to
wonder.
I get a call on 5/14 but its Karen leaving a messag on my voice mail (ahhh those were the days)
saying I needed to call back with my old account number so they could transfer my phone number
over to them.....No Josh, didn't call because he said not to, that he would. He was nice so I
figured I'd give him some leeway. I know how hectic telephone work can be!
Still no call from Josh and although this wasn't an emergency (yet) I did need it to get done
so I caved and called them at 3:20pm 5/15. Got Janice and she took my old account number
information and was nice enough to look through their directory and find Josh and send him an
e-mail to call me to finish the scheduling and what not. Josh calls me back like 30 minutes or
so, and gives me the heartstopping news that it looks like the order has been
cancelled....What!?!? He starts getting that set back up but says he is having some troubles
again and it looks like he will have to call me again on Monday....huh why don't I have
confidence in that.
So on 5/18 I get another voice mail from Karen saying they got the information about my old
account number and my phone and internet service was scheduled for 9am-1pm 5/21...no Josh.
5/19 - No Josh and rather disgusted with him and was busy all day and cable still working and
would keep working until they came out so didn't call.
Gave up on Josh and called at 3pm 5/20 and spoke to Alice/Allyson (couldn't understand her so
not quit sure which one it was) and found the first lie of Josh. He told me I would only have
to do a deposit of $200, while Alice shattered that happy lie, glad I waited til payday to
call. I had already had a busy day so I was weak, I wasn't going to get a 3rd box if it was
gonna cost me more on the deposit but I said screw it and go ahead....then she tells me its
gonna be $423!!!! Its $100 for the extra box, then $19.95 for handling charge, then $99 for the
dvr box (which I'm still not clear on why I paid that if I am paying a leasing fee), then tax.
I was like yeah whatever just schedule it, she scheduled it for 8:30am-12:30pm 5/22. I asked
her to send me an e-mail of everything I have ordered from them and all I got back was this
weak and useless e-mail of the Direct tv stuff I ordered, not even with any amounts on it!
All that really should have slapped up against the head and woken me up, but nooooo it starts
crossing into hellish territory really quick (and am still in it)....keep reading! :)
I thought my tides had turned when the guy actually showed up around 12pm-12:30pm 5/21. He tells me everything is hooked up and ready to go and leaves, but turns out he doesn't have my modem with him, that actually comes by UPS....sometimes that day sometimes the next....WHAT!?!? If I had known that...I don't know, I would have scheduled it for another day!!!! I had to work that night, luckily it was grave and not my normal 4pm shift. Also luckily the UPS man came like 20 minutes later. Well we go in and had other things planned but Miki suggested we try the lines to make sure they are working and got nothing!!! So we did what the guy said to do if we ever get static on the line and that is to go to the box and plug phone into outlets there and see if there is any static. Well the one with wires had nothing so she tried the one without and luckily there was sound. So she figured out how to rig it so I could have phone and internet, just in case.....man am I soooo glad I have her!!! It entailed having 4 long phone
cords, 2 phone connector things and a brain! :) So I call them up and speak to Max and am told
the service isn't actually set to be running til 2pm 5/21 (that day). Okkkkay, so we went out
and did our stuff and bought the extra phone lines and came back around 2:30pm 5/21. Still not
working so we call them up, spoke to Takesha (?), and are told they can't do anything about it
til after....what for it....you won't believe it....after 12am!!!! That the papers or whatever
won't be in until then and they can't even make a repair ticket until then! I even tried their
online chat thing and Veronica told me she couldn't help me either and had no idea what to do.
Needless to say I am beyond thankful for her for getting that rigged that up so I was getting
something. So we were relieved about that until I open the box for the modem to get things
started....and read the note enclosed saying do not attempt to install until after 5pm! Come
on!!!! So Miki leaves and I lay down for a bit when my phone in the office starts ringing (I
have a cordless but thanks to problem and work I had to have a stationary one hooked up), I'm
like whatever I'm not getting up and running down there. Then it rings again like right away so
I go running and it turns out its my tv guy!! :) Yeah!! He can make it today instead of
Saturday!! Yeah!!! (tides turning again maybe??? pshhh right) I call Miki with the good news
and she tells me to ask the guy if he can do something and I am totally brain fried that she
noticed and offered to come over while he was there! So the guy shows up like 10-20 minutes
later and I show him the places tv will be on and as he goes out he tells me "You know you
won't be getting your local channels, right"......uh no!! (Josh's second lie comes to light!
You remember him, the yahoo in the beginning - sorry I know I shouldn't be so harsh but maybe if he had told the truth I would have thought about it some more, dang money grubbers!Not only that but when I finally call Direct tv to get a waiver to get the local channels a couple of
days later, they tell me its $2.50 per channel from CA and $3.50 from NY....what! That's like
an extra $10 a month, no thank you, I'll watch what I can online and just miss the rest, I can
handle that) So I tell him to go ahead since I watch almost everything online now anyways. He
was really nice and helpful about everything! Even gave us more telephone cord and connector
thingy. So the other bummer thing was that I didn't get my free movies channels til the next
day but that had nothing to do with him! He actually tried and stayed on the phone for like 10
-15 minutes trying to get them. Then he gave him personal cell phone number and said if I
didn't have them by 5pm the next day to call him and he would try again. They weren't on so I
called him and not 5 minutes later they came on!! He rocked and was the only positive thing in
this whole fiasco! He even programmed my tv's into the new remotes!
I was working grave so I called Qwest at 2:30am 5/22 and spoke to Irene. She said there was no record of my account at first and then when I told her they were out today and hooked it up she
put me on hold and talked to her supervisor. Came back and said she found it and it is
scheduled to be turned on 5pm 5/22....uh what!!....and she can't make a repair ticket til
then....uh uh uh what!! But then she put me on hold and talked to her supervisor again and said
she would do things differently and make one, said someone would be out that day between 9am-1pm. Well I decided I wasn't going to stick around since I had stuff to do and they call before coming out anyways and they had my cell number and since lady said it technically wasn't going to be turned on til 5pm anyways I left. I came back around 6pm and called again and spoke to James and he said there was no record of me calling with any problems and soonest he get anyone out was 9am-1pm 5/23....ok I still have it rigged so I could work so ok...I can handle
that...for now! Again on yeah side thanks to my Direct tv tech guy I got my movie channels!!
So I am so beyond pissed when yet again no Qwest people and I call around 1:40pm 5/23 and am told by Steven that there was, yet again, no record of any of my calls!!!! You have got to be
flippin kidding me!! Guess what he tells me? He tries the tech guys that come out and said
their recording said hold time was 10 minutes and he wasn't going to wait and would put in a
ticket but no one would probably be out until Tues!!!!!!!!!!! Uh no, supervisor please! So I
get Alfred the supervisor and tell him the shortened version of things and he says the same
thing and I was like uh no, need asap! He tries saying the same thing and I am just pushed
beyond my limit and start fucking crying! I can't believe it, I don't cry in front of anyone,
in person or on the phone and they have me crying! Well you know when you cry you really can't talk so I get out basically that I need it now and I can't believe the service I have been
getting and I am looking into other services! Like an hour or so later I hear the phone
ringing, you know the one they are coming out to repair? The one as far as they know isn't
working? Reallllly, seriously??? Then I hear knocking so I get up (was so disgusted in
everything I just went back to bed) and answer the door and surprise surprise its them! Ok the
guy gave me the creeps and that takes alot! I think it was just that he followed me so closely
everywhere, I'm like personal space buddy. :) Well he did something and came back and said he
should have fixed it and to try it out. I guess the box is really old and he said the young kid
that did it isn't used to it so that's why he didn't do it right he guesses. Well I try things
out and they are working fine....although trying to get onto work that night was a bear and had
to fight it for like 10-15 minutes before it let me get on then kept working slow.
Well I get up the next day 5/24 and......can you guess....come on, by now it should be easy. :)
My internet was out, and all I got on the line was static!!! So I call panicking a bit to Miki
and Miss Wonderful Superwoman (you know the one with a brain during this whole thing) tells me to do the duh thing and run the line outside again. Well whatever I did didn't work so I had to call them again and Chris comes over and I kid you not, not 5 minutes later he's got it
working! Apparantely I hooked something up wrong, just what I did, not the initial mess up.
Well I just couldn't handle talking to THEM again and since last time I called they said
couldn't get someone out til tues and I was up and running again I went ahead and just let it
go until Tues....will this ever end?!
I call tues 5/26 and speak to male (forgot to write his name down dang it!) and decide to try
to get the easy part out of the way and tell him about my not getting my voice mail and caller
id, which Alice/Allyson said I would have and he says I have to call a different number for
that and gives it. Buuut on the other thing, he tells me since technically I am getting service
(although apparantley bad service is ok) they can't come out and do anything, I checked and I
was automatically signed up for their inside and outside free service. Yet he is telling me no,
not gonna do anything to help. I got so pissed I said I would just call someone else and hung
up on him. I didn't though because I was so upset I just went out to Miki's! :) I did call the
other number about not getting the voice mail and caller id and they tell me I'm not set up for
it (unfortanetly I didn't get their name, I know I hadn't talked to them before) and its not
part of my plan....but I was told I would be getting them, I'm sorry ma'am but no. I am so
flabbergasted that I say ok and hang up. Like next day I am looking and reading through my
qwest stuff and lo and behold I have the plan that I should be getting alllllll features....Oh
did that get me mad again!
So we took Wed 5/27 off (from trying to talk to them) to try to calm down about the line
problem but I called them about the fact I SHOULD be getting all flippin features. Justin was
nice (yet there was still a problem later on) and said sorry but won't be able to turn them on til 1pm 5/28 and even gave me a confirmation number....now if I new about those or even thought about them I would have been asking for them from the beginning.
Miki did the calling this time, thurs 5/28 and spoke to Jody. She kicked butt yet again (Miki)
!!! And even used her brain and asked for them to come out next tues 6/2 so if something
happens again they'll basically have 2 days to fix the flippin thing! I am still so gonna look
into someone else though, this has been beyond a headache!! I mean it wasn't even til today
5/28 that the internet site recognized my number as having an account with them.....although I
called them about my voice mail still not working, caller id is up and running thankfully! Ken
tried to treat me like an idiot and was like, well are you sure its just not saying its not set
up yet, and I was like uh no it says there is no record of it! So he puts me on hold to check
for himself and comes back and says well it looks like it wasn't set up to be scheduled to be
turned on......what, what, what!?!? I got wax in my ears right because I swear it sounded like
he said they were still hosing me and giving me continued shoddy service!!!!! Well its now
supposed to be up by 2pm fri 5/29! I got off the phone and all I could do was laugh....they
have pushed me to the looney stage!! I realized it was either laugh or start bashing my head on
something! All I still can do is laugh about it, I mean come on! I guess I am just tooooo
patient!
Well that is it for now, some names and times may be wrong but still not getting the service I
should be so we'll see....if my sanity will hold up that is. :) Send positive happy thoughts
